As part of International Women’s Day, the Legislative School of the General Coordination for Citizen Participation of the National Assembly of Ecuador organized a training event on a crucial topic: Economic Empowerment. 🚀👩💼
This space provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of gender equality and the key role that women’s financial autonomy plays in building a more just society. 🌍💡 Moreover, it highlighted how economic empowerment serves as a powerful tool to reduce gender-based violence and open new doors for personal and professional growth. 🔥✨
One of the most inspiring talks was given by Maricruz Iñiguez, a research professor at the PREIT-tour research group of the University of Cuenca and director of the Warmi VIVAmente project. This innovative programme aims to enhance the well-being of female students from outside Cuenca who live alone, fostering their integration through tourism and gastronomic experiences. 🍲🏞️
Additionally, Dr. Sonia Salamea, president of the FAVIFE Foundation and a key partner in the Warmi VIVAmente project, spoke about gender-based violence rates and the urgent need for structural changes to protect and empower women. 📊⚖️ Her intervention shed light on the realities many women face daily and the importance of creating support networks and sustainable solutions to break cycles of violence. 🛑💜
The event reinforced the message that empowering women means transforming entire societies. 💜💪 Let’s continue striving for a world where we all have the same opportunities! 🚀✨
