The PREIT-tour research group has taken a significant step towards solidifying international academic relations by resuming and strengthening cooperation with Spain's Universidad Pablo de Olavide. This joint effort focuses on exploring new avenues of collaboration in the fields of anthropology and tourism, areas in which both institutions have a rich history of valuable contributions.
A pivotal meeting for this new chapter of collaboration occurred on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the prestigious Hotel ITZA. During this gathering, strategies were discussed to intensify the ties between the PREIT-tour research group from the Universidad de Cuenca and the research group led by Dr. Esteban Ruíz Ballesteros, PhD., from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide. Both parties expressed their excitement about the potential of this cooperation to enrich studies and research in tourism and anthropology, bringing greater depth and international perspective to both fields, especially since the faculty members who established the Faculty of Hospitality Sciences have been pioneers in studying community-based tourism in Ecuador.
This development promises to open new opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and resources, expanding the scope of current research and fostering a more dynamic and collaborative academic environment. We look forward to the fruits of this renewed collaboration, which will undoubtedly advance interdisciplinary studies and enhance the cultural, environmental, economic, and social understanding of tourism globally.
