Last Tuesday 13th and Friday 16th July, the PREIT-Tour team began the production of the documentary in the framework of the project: Fostering a platform for research-based education to support sustainable development through Tourism in the Cajas Massif Biosphere Area (CMBA). In this case, Sayausí and Baños were the first pilots to be filmed. The objective of this documentary is to describe the current problems in the communities of the Cajas Massif and to present the cooperation actions carried out by the actors throughout the two years of the project.
Since each territory has different problems; in Sayausí, the video seeks to highlight the associative work of the actors in order to generate tourism activities that promote the sustainable development of the territory. It also focuses on the micro-enterprises generated by members of the "Sayausí Rural Tourism" Association. In Baños, the short film aims to highlight local crafts and gastronomy. In this case, one of the biggest problems has been that the majority of visitors are unaware of the parish's handicraft activity and only visit the hot springs. For this territory, the project has focused on the organisation and coordinated work between the public and private sectors and local actors, which has been the most relevant aspect of the territory.
The team will continue the production of the next pilots in the coming weeks and the documentary is expected to be finished in September.
